It is no secret that the majority of MECC visitors do not smoke. In view of that, we are announcing that starting from January 25th, 2009, smoking in the Chekhov Center is not allowed. This goes to the entrance area as well. This is in accordance with Article 6, Paragraph 1 of the Federal Law No.87-FZ of the Russian Federation on Restriction of Tobacco Smoking (the Chekhov Culture Center being a culture organization by definition and the entrance area not being a valid designated place for smoking since it is located where all non-smokers pass); agreed with Lena Abramova, the Administrator of MECC & Slava Dodonov, the Founder of MECC; and agreed with the Administration of the Chekhov Culture Center.
